Use of Artworks
Policy on the Use of Art in SKIPPY Branding
At SKIPPY, we integrate artistic elements inspired by Indigenous art solely for the purpose of connecting with the local culture and honoring the land on which we operate. We do not sell, monetize, or claim these artworks as authentic Indigenous creations. Our use is strictly limited to branding and is undertaken with the utmost respect for Indigenous cultural and intellectual property rights.
SKIPPY acknowledges and respects the rich cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognize that Indigenous art is a profound expression of identity, culture, spirituality, and connection to Country. Our commitment is to honor these traditions while integrating artistic elements into our branding responsibly and ethically.
Understanding Indigenous Art
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art embodies the stories, ceremonies, and ancestral connections of Indigenous communities. It is more than mere visual representation; it is a sacred narrative that conveys deep cultural significance as highlighted by the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS).
Commercialization and Ethical Considerations
It is imperative that any artwork inspired by Indigenous cultures created by non-Indigenous individuals is not sold or marketed as Indigenous art. SKIPPY does not participate in the sale of such drawings as artwork. Such practices can mislead consumers and undermine the cultural and economic rights of Indigenous artists. Learn more.
